Possible Sources of Common Low Back Pain

Common presentations of low back pain may originate from:

  • vertebral facet joints (the small joints in the back that connect vertebrae together and allow movement)
  • abnormal postural muscles of the spine and their fascia (muscle covering) – spasms, scar tissue, tears, strains, etc.
  • disc pathology:  herniations, ruptures, tears
  • spinal ligaments and tendons:  tears, scar tissue, adhesions
  • pinched nerve roots

Or, a combination of the above.
