Lumbar Flexion Can Be Used to Pump Discs

That being said, lumbar flexion can be beneficial.  Just do fewer repetitions than extension and when your disc bulge is NOT acute (hot, extremely painful).  This movement can “pump” a weak disc and may even encourage disc bulge resorption; it depends on the case.

Below are two alternatives to standing lumbar flexion:
